Union Berlin has landed a transfer coup: The Italian European champion of 2021, Leonardo Bonucci, joins the Köpenickers. The veteran had been sorted out at Juventus Turin.

The Köpenickers announced Leonardo Bonucci’s commitment on Thursday, on the last day of the transfer period. The 121-time Italian national player was last with the Italian record champions Juventus Turin, but had been without a club there since July.

502 games for Juventus
The transfer fee had recently been two million euros. Bonucci should strengthen the Champions League participant Union Berlin in the central defense.
Bonucci had celebrated eight league titles and four cup wins with Juventus. With the exception of one season at AC Milan, Bonucci has played a total of 502 competitive games for the Old Lady since 2010. The 36-year-old won the European title with the Italian national team in 2021.
