Goalkeeper Justin Bijlow was injured in the match between Genoa and Como. The Rotterdammer played goalkeeper for the entire first half, but subsequently did not leave the dressing room. The severity of the injury is still unclear, but the World Cup could easily be on the cards for Bijlow.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper has blossomed in Italy after losing his starting place at Feyenoord to Timon Wellenreuther. Bijlow was even called up to the Dutch national team for the last international match. However, the goalkeeper did not take action.

At Genoa, Bijlow is always under the bar and he also started on goal again against Como. However, the Rotterdammer did not return to the field after the break. Nicola Leali was his replacement in the match, which was ultimately lost 0-2.

Afterwards, trainer Daniele de Rossi provided a little more clarity about Bijlow’s injury. “He complained about an injury to his calf. We didn’t want to take any risks with him,” the former midfielder explains. Research still needs to be done by the medical staff. With the World Cup, which starts in less than fifty days, in mind, Bijlow will hope that things will not be too bad.

On Saturday, Xavi Simons dropped out with an apparently serious injury. So there are already some worries for national coach Ronald Koeman heading into the tournament in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
