Roeselare was too strong 3-0 in the first match at home on Wednesday, but lost 3-2 in Achel on Friday (25-20, 21-25, 21-25, 30-28 and 15-5). Maaseik triumphed 3-0 in the first match against Aalst in front of its own fans and also won on away with that score (0-3; 15-25, 13-25 and 16-25).
Roeselare is aiming for a seventeenth national title, a sixth in a row. Maaseik also has sixteen national titles to its name, but has been dry since 2019. Since 1995, Roeselare and Maaseik have divided all national titles between themselves. That almost always happened after a mutual final, but last year Maaseik was blocked from reaching the final by Haasrode Leuven.
