New neighborhood in Veurne recovers waste and rainwater

There will even be a surplus because 100,000 cubic meters will be purified, good for the annual consumption of 1000 families. The surplus protects the nature reserve because that way the natural basins that are there remain filled. And that’s good news for the special breeding birds that live there, and also for the vegetation.

The sustainable water project is the largest of its kind in Belgium and will receive a small 900,000 euro Flemish subsidy. The water mainly comes from the roofs of large companies in the area or from their production process (PepsiCo and Colruyt).
