Werder Bremen has found a successor for the name sponsor of the Weser Stadium. Is the venue renamed now?

Werder Bremen had been looking for a successor for the stadium name giver for a year. Now the Bundesliga club has presented a solution: In future, four companies will share sponsorship for the Weser Stadium. Nothing changes on the name of the traditional venue for 42,100 fans – the Weser Stadium remains.

Main sponsor Matthäi, Harald Pihl GmbH, Wiesenhof and Goldschmaus are now involved as so -called “floodlight partners,” Werder said on Wednesday. Each of the four companies should symbolically stand for one of the four floodlight masts in the stadium. The contract runs until 2030. Which sum the association receives was not mentioned.

“This sign is a strong expression of its emotional connection to the association and stadium,” said Klaus Filbry, chairman of the Werder management. It is also the preferred solution for name right among fans.

Between 2019 and 2024, the SVW home was officially called “Weserstadion’s residential investment” before the company retired because of its bankruptcy. The real estate group is said to have transferred around three million euros per season to Werder. In the past few months, those responsible have checked various approaches. “A complete name sales or a new first name solution were also in the room,” said Filbry.

Werder Bremen had already concluded a similar agreement with the “floodlight partners” in the past. The energy and telecommunications supplier was stadium sponsor between 2007 and 2017, but refrained from giving the Weser Stadium a different name.
