With the exhibition Volks van de Ventweg – Travelers in Drenthe Is there attention for the unique history of Drenthe caravan dwellers. But to find people who are willing to openly tell about their family history, was not that easy, says Jonathan van der Meulen of the Drents Museum.

A forgotten community, Van der Meulen describes the Drenthe travelers. But also a community that are many prejudices about. “While there is also a lot of beautiful and positive about this community to tell.” Time to show that other side, the Drents Museum thought. “We will do that with this exhibition.”

Those involved were sought for the exhibition. “That was quite a challenge,” says Van der Meulen. “We had to look for people who wanted this for a long time. Many travelers were also cautious,” he noticed.
