New engine for Verstappen in the streets of Baku | 1Limburg

Red Bull is changing the engine in Max Verstappen’s car for the first time this season at the Azerbaijan GP this weekend.

Teammate Sergio Perez also gets a fresh power source in his car.

no punishment
These are identical engines to the previous ones. The change does not result in a penalty for Verstappen, as three engine changes are allowed in an entire season according to the regulations. In case of a fourth substitution, the driver will receive a grid penalty.

peak power
The new power source literally and figuratively reinforces Verstappen’s chances of winning in Baku. Top power is an important condition for a good result on the street circuit, which is also characterized by long straights. Typically, a brand new engine will outperform an engine that is nearing the end of its life.

blowout
World Cup leader Verstappen has never finished on the podium in Baku. In three of his four appearances there, the Limburger dropped out. Last year there seemed to be no problem for the Red Bull leader, until a blowout at the end of the race cost him the victory.

Program
On Friday, the first free practice session is scheduled for Verstappen at 1:00 PM Dutch time, followed by the second free practice session at 4:00 PM. The race starts on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
