Liam Kirk scored a hat trick, Leonhard Pföderl scored twice. Kai Wissmann, Zach Boychuk, Ty Ronning and Blaine Byron contributed the remaining goals to the capital city team’s sweeping victory in the league classic.

The 11,779 spectators in the Mannheim Arena saw an intense, at times heated encounter from the start. Both teams missed a few chances before Wissmann scored for Berlin in the 19th minute.
After the first break, the home team increased the pressure and equalized through Stefan Loibl (22′). Matthias Plachta equalized the visitors’ renewed lead through Kirk (25′) for the Kurpfälzer (33′), before the Eisbären pulled away to 5-2 within a furious two and a half minutes thanks to goals from Pföderl in the power play, Boychuk and Ronning. Luke Esposito brought Mannheim closer again (38th).
The Berliners also demonstrated their offensive qualities in the final third. Kirk completed his hat trick with two goals, Pföderl and Byron made the final score with two powerplay goals.
