Six days after the Preliminary presentation of the song At the semi -annual charity show “Light Up the Blues” Neil Young “Let’s Roll Again” from his upcoming album Talkin ‘to the Treesthat is officially published on June 13th. It may sound like a continuation of his Songs “Let’s Roll” from September 11, 2002. But is actually an appeal to the car manufacturers to act responsibly. And build more electric vehicles.

No support for Tesla – Young criticizes Musk and demands real responsibility

“Come on, Ford, come on, GM,” sings Neil Young. “Come on, Chrysler, let’s get started again/build something useful that people need/build us a safe future/build us something that our children do not kill.”

However, this does not mean that he wants people to support Elon Musk and buy Teslas. “If you are a fascist, buy a Tesla,” he sings. “If it is electrical, it doesn’t matter.” Young developed his own electric car, Lincvolt two decades ago. The story is documented on his 2009 album “Fork in the Road”.

New album Talkin ‘to the Trees – First studio work with Chrome Hearts

Talkin ‘to the Trees Is Young’s first album with his new band Chrome Hearts, which includes guitarist Micah Nelson, the organist Spooner Oldham, bassist Corey McCormick and the drummer Anthony Logerfo. The band essentially consists of Promise of the Real without Lukas Nelson, supplemented by Oldham. In January, Young published the album track “Big Change” Talkin ‘to the Trees.

Neil Young founded the Chrome Hearts last year after having to stop a tour with Crazy Horse for health reasons in summer 2017. They gave their first concert this year on April 26th at Light Up the Blues. In addition to the live premiere of “Let’s Roll Again”, they played “Ordinary People” for the first time since 1988.

Accommodation in Malibu – producer Lou Adler and sound master John Hanlon on board

At the end of last year, they recorded “Talkin ‘to the Trees” in the Shangri-la-Studios in Malibu, California, with the producer Lou Adler. Young’s long -time employee John Hanlon acted as a sound engineer. “In my modest opinion, this develops into a completely unique and soulful, introspective album,” Hanlon wrote in the Neil Young Archives at the beginning of the year, “which covers the entire range from beautiful acoustic pastel tones to loud, disrespectful rock ‘n’ roll in the style of a Jackson Pollack painting.”

Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts start their world tour on June 18 in Dalhalla, Rättvik, Sweden. The US tour begins on August 8 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and ends on September 15th in Los Angeles. In between they are in Berlin, presented by Rolling Stone.
