Alexandra Ndolo missed a medal at the second attempt at the Fencing European Championships in Antalya. Three days after her quarter-finals in the epee singles, the 35-year-old from Leverkusen also failed in the team competition in the round of the top eight.
The team around Ndolo, Alexandra Ehler, Laura Katalin Wetzker and Nadine Stahlberg lost 36:45 to Italy in the quarterfinals. Gold went to France.
The German men’s foil team was also eliminated in the quarter-finals and missed out on a medal.
On Friday, Leonie Ebert gave the German team a great start to the title fights in Turkey with her individual title in the foil, on Monday she followed up with the team and took bronze. At the Olympics in Tokyo, Germany remained without a medal in upheaval, and the World Championships in Cairo begin on July 15.
