THEthe theater at Milan staircase has a new principal dancer who comes from far away, the Australian Navrin Turnbull. The superintendent of the theater made the announcement, which – he assures – he did not expect, Fortunato Ortombina. After last night’s performance of Sleeping Beauty – in which Turnbull made his debut in the role of Prince Désiré – the superintendent in fact went on stage accompanied by the director of the ballet company Frédéric Olivieri explaining that at La Scala there are many talents from the “five continents”.
«The dream we celebrate this evening is that of a talent that comes from far away, perhaps it is the one that comes from the furthest, from Australia. With tonight’s performance Our Navrin Turnbull becomes principal dancer at La Scala». This is the second nomination announced by the Scaliger stage, after that of Nicoletta Manni at étoile on November 8, 2023.
