Bayern Munich goalkeeper Ena Mahmutovic injured her ankle during a training session at her club and is therefore out of the German national team.

The 21-year-old will be absent for “several weeks” and will not be available for the DFB women in the semi-finals of the Nations League against France, the German Football Association (DFB) announced on Wednesday. This means that Stina Johannes (VfL Wolfsburg) will look after the German goal in the two important games.

National coach Christian Wück reacted to the loss and nominated Rafaela Borggräfe from Liverpool FC from the U23 national team. A subsequent nomination for the U23 team will be announced at a later date.

DFB women have to take on France

Bayern are now missing Mahmutovic in the Champions League game on Thursday against Italian champions Juventus Turin (9 p.m./Disney+).

The DFB women will meet France in the first leg of the Nations League semi-final in Düsseldorf on October 24th (5:45 p.m./ARD), the second leg will take place on October 28th (9:10 p.m./ZDF) in Caen, France.

After goalkeeper Ann-Kathrin Berger was eliminated due to injury, Mahmutovic’s loss is the next personnel setback in the crucial phase of the competition. Wück recently called for a duel between Mahmutovic and Johannes for the goal.
