Nation Of Language: “Strange Disciple” (Review & Stream)

After the success of their second album, “A Way Forward”, the US synthpop trio has gone one step further to become one of Brooklyn’s best. For the first time, the three were able to move around the studio free of the constraints of the pandemic and dedicated themselves to an analog recording process. Of course, Nation Of Language’s roots lie in the 80s and even before.

We dance and cry at the same time

The magnificent “Weak In Your Light” triumphs as a mixture of early OMD and the Kraut-Electronica of La Düsseldorf. “Surely I Can’t Wait” could have been written by Vince Clarke. Via Cut Copy and Passion Pit we go into the present, to LCD Soundsystem. And we? We dance and cry at the same time. And with a smiling eye.
