Naples: De Laurentiis, who attacks Sarri and Lazio

Extremely harsh attack by the Napoli president on the coach who has just resigned from Lazio, and who led the Neapolitan club from 2015 to 2018

March 12 – 8.55pm – MILAN

A very harsh attack on Maurizio Sarri, who has just left the Lazio bench, came from Aurelio De Laurentiis, president of Napoli already led by Sarri from 2015 to the end of the 2017-18 season. “It’s easy to resign, if you do you’re a loser”, AdL accused the coach, speaking to Sportmediaset before Barcelona-Napoli. “I was very surprised by his resignation. For better or for worse you have to continue your commitment to the end due to a contract issue with the club and the fans.

De Laurentiis then further clarified the concept: “His decision surprised me a lot, because when you are no longer at the beginning of your career as a coach you have to assume your responsibilities and follow them through to the end. I don’t know the internal reasons of this decision, but both he and Lotito had to find a solution together. You don’t leave a team a few months before the end of the championship, you don’t do that.” And then, speaking of Lazio’s number one, he concluded: “Lotito is not impetuous, if anything, an exaggerated person who wants to do everything and more.”
