Still has U21 talent in mind

Julian Nagelsmann sees some players with good prospects in the German U21. However, the national coach is skeptical about any upcoming nominations for the senior national team in the run-up to the World Cup. “We always try to keep an eye on the young talents. We also have a large pool in the senior national team, so you clearly have to be better. I don’t think much of the extremely early hype,” said Nagelsmann after the 1-0 win in the World Cup qualifiers in Northern Ireland.
The national coach decided not to visit the junior team’s European Championship qualifier on Tuesday evening in Belfast and traveled back home because of an appointment for a new analysis tool. Three members of his coaching team – including assistant Benjamin Glück – remained in Northern Ireland. You “keep the connection,” assured Nagelsmann.
The national coach spoke in particular about Saïd El Mala (19) from Cologne and the former Hanoverian Nicolò Tresoldi (21), who now storms for Bruges. But you also have to give the young professionals time. Otherwise there would be a “fun fair” for them. The hype surrounding young players has become more intense.
DFB team: Nagelsmann tested Collins & Brown – Woltemade as a pioneer
So far in the World Cup season, Nagelsmann has promoted Frankfurt’s Nnamdi Collins (21) and Nathaniel Brown (22) from the U21 team, which came second in the European Championship in the summer, to the senior team. Collins failed at his premiere in Slovakia (0:2) and has currently no longer been nominated. Brown got a few substitute minutes in the 4-0 win against Luxembourg.

Nick Woltemade, who made his debut for Nagelsmann before the U21 European Championships and celebrated his debut goal with the winning goal in Belfast, has become the current regular in the A team. The starting line-up for the victory in Northern Ireland included four professionals under 25: Woltemade (23), Aleksandar Pavlovic (21), Karim Adeyemi (23) and Florian Wirtz (22). The average age of the first eleven was 27.4 years.
