The Allianz MTV Stuttgart volleyball team won the German championship for the second time after 2019 in front of their home crowd.
With a convincing 3:0 (25:14, 25:20, 25:23) performance in the fifth playoff final against SC Potsdam on Sunday evening, coach Tore Aleksandersen’s team decided the best-of-five series 3:2 for themselves.
MTV thus crowned an outstanding season: in March, the women from Stuttgart had won the DVV Cup for the fourth time. Potsdam, who eliminated defending champions Dresdner SC in the semi-finals and already had a 2-1 lead in the final series, have to wait for their first championship title.
On Friday, Stuttgart forced the fifth game away from home and fended off two match points in the tie-break. Two days later, the cup winners dominated the game from the start and left no doubt about victory.
