MSV Duisburg has extended the contract with goalkeeper Maximilian Braune. As the struggling third division team announced on Friday, the 20-year-old’s new working paper now runs until 2026 with a subsequent option. The working paper is also league-independent. Braune has been training with the “Zebras” since 2020; the Oberhausen native was previously active in Schalke 04’s U17 team. So far he has stood between the posts seven times for MSV.

“We are pleased that Max is committed to MSV and decided early on to further advance his development with us. Max is still a young goalkeeper, but with his strong personality he already exudes a certain maturity that you need to be a good keeper. With him we have a modern goalkeeper in our ranks who we have a lot of confidence in in the future,” explained Chris Schmoldt, head of squad planning and strategy. Braune added: “The fact that I have extended my contract early until 2026 is a great appreciation for me, but above all it is an obligation. I feel right at home at MSV, working with Sven Beuckert (goalkeeping coach, editor) and the coaching team is really, really good. I’m looking forward to the next few years here and will do everything I can to ensure that we achieve success together for the game club.”
