MSV Duisburg is bringing home-grown Ahmet Engin (27) to the old place of work. Three and a half years after his departure for Kasimpasa, the attacker returns to the “Zebras”, where he was trained and played 149 games (15 goals/27 assists) for the professionals. Until recently, Engin played for the Greek first division club Volos. In Duisburg he received a contract until the end of the season.

“It’s great that we can welcome Ahmet back to the game club. He certainly had other options, but he made it very clear to us that it was important to him to actively support ‘his’ MSV in what was still a critical sporting situation. He knows the club inside and out and knows exactly what is important. “We’re working together to work our way out of the bottom of the table,” commented Chris Schmoldt, head of squad planning and strategy, on the second winter signing after Daniel Ginczek (32). Duisburg are in second-to-last place after 20 games.

Engin said: “For me, my return to MSV goes far beyond football. The game club is my footballing home, where I have experienced great, unforgettable moments. The conversations with Chris and Baja, who I know from my early days as a professional here, went well from the start, so the decision for Duisburg was very easy for me. Playing for MSV and helping out in this situation is a matter of the heart!”
