The penultimate session before the repeat election – of course, things couldn’t go on in the House of Representatives without a lot of trouble.

Rising energy costs were the topic of the day on Thursday – but many speakers didn’t stick to it, preferring to campaign purely.

► “When it comes to the climate crisis, the only thing that comes to mind is the climate in the coalition,” etched Christian Gräff (44, CDU). “The mood is icy.”

Because of the renewed blocking of Friedrichstraße by traffic senator Bettina Jarasch (54, Greens), Gräff demanded of the governing mayor Franziska Giffey (44, SPD): “Say here and now that you rule out a red-red-green coalition for the future. It’s your last chance to be credible!”

► That outraged the Green MP Benedikt Lux (41) so much so that he rushed to the lectern for an interim remark. The eco-politician towards the Union: “Luckily that you bear no responsibility, neither in the federal government nor in the country. And it will stay that way after February 12,” he yelled into the microphone in anger.

The AfD asked Giffey during question time why she wasn’t firing Jarasch for going it alone on Friedrichstrasse.

The ruler evasive: “Whether 500 meters of street land must lead to a fundamental question of trust – I put a question mark behind it.”
