The accident happened around 6.30 am. The driver flew over the crash barrier and arrived against the wall of the railway bridge. Among other things, a trauma helicopter was called for the seriously injured motorist.
He was transferred to the hospital with an ambulance. The police have towed the vehicle and did an investigation.
Far fewer trains between Amsterdam, Utrecht and Gouda
Because the motorist has hit the railway bridge, no trains run over the viaduct as a precaution. It must first be checked whether the bridge has not suffered too much damage and that trains can be safely over it.
As a result, there are far fewer trains from the Amsterdam Central in the direction of Utrecht and Gouda. The Dutch Railways expect that the entire train traffic can be resumed again around 12.15 pm. Travelers are recommended to take the metro to Amsterdam-Zuid.
