The accident happened around 7:30 am on the Rijksweg. A car coming from the direction of Kuurne wanted to turn left onto Hulstemolenstraat. This resulted in a collision with a motorcyclist approaching from the opposite direction.
The 49-year-old motorcyclist from Torhout had a hard fall and suffered several fractures. He was conscious and received first aid at the scene. He was then transferred to AZ Delta in Rumbeke. The man’s life was not in danger. The driver of the car was uninjured, but was very shaken by the accident. The police temporarily diverted traffic, causing minor local disruption during the morning rush hour.
