“Fire is a silent killer,” said Lierse fire expert Jan Siebens today at the trial of the arson in the home of Stefanie Brems. Her children Kyano and Kyara indeed died from CO intoxication. “The children have consciously experienced this. They must have been afraid,” added medical doctor Diona D’Hondt. The confrontation with the past was too difficult for mother Stefanie, so she left the room for a while.
