Neymar’s future is unclear. Brazil’s superstar will probably have to look for a club.

The Saudi Arabia chapter seems to have ended prematurely for Neymar. The Brazilian superstar was not registered for the second half of the Saudi Pro League. Coach Jorge Jesus confirmed on Friday that the 32-year-old no longer plays a role in Al-Hilal’s plans.

“Neymar is no longer at the level we are used to. Unfortunately, things have become difficult for him,” Jesus told a press conference. The offensive player’s contract expires in the summer. Neymar only moved to the Saudi record champions in the summer of 2023 for a transfer fee of 90 million euros. Only a fraction of what Paris St. Germain transferred to Barcelona in 2017: 222 million euros. To date, the most expensive transfer ever paid.

In total, Neymar only appeared seven times for Al-Hilal. Just a few months after his move, he suffered a torn cruciate ligament in October 2023, which slowed him down for almost a year. Recently, thigh problems prevented further missions.

It remains to be seen what will happen next for Neymar in terms of sport. According to media reports, several Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs are interested in signing the offensive star.
