TAmong the most beautiful villages in Italy there are already established ones, which bring further notoriety to the Association. And others who despite being rich in artistic and cultural treasures, they are less known and need his driving to make themselves known and appreciated. This is the advantage that the dei network offers Most beautiful villages in Italy. A network that includes 382 Municipalities. Including the seven “new” ones, positively evaluated and admitted today. A further milestone in the path of valorisation and promotion of lesser-known Italy.

The 7 new ones Most beautiful villages in Italy admitted in December 2025

There are 7 villages that obtained the prestigious recognition in the month of December. They were proposed by the Scientific Committee and were evaluated based on 72 parameters. From the artistic, historical, cultural and landscape heritage to initiatives for the protection of the environment, from services for the population to those for tourist reception. Then they were admitted by the National Board of Directors of the Association.

In 2025, a total of 21 villages were evaluated and 5 were admitted as ordinary members and 2 as “guests”, Biella and Termoli. (the “guest” villages remain in the Association for two years as they have a population, in the entire municipal territory, of more than 15 thousand inhabitants).

From Limone sul Garda to Rivello

The new villages are all over Italy, from North to South, each with unique and fascinating characteristics.

– Limone sul Garda – Lombardy. Nestled between the mountains of the Alto Garda Bresciano Park and the lake, it boasts a charming historic centre, with narrow streets and artisan shops. Famous for its citrus terraces, which tell a centuries-old history of cultivation, it is also appreciated for its flower-filled lakefront. And the beaches where you can enjoy the sun, with waters awarded for their purity (Blue Flags).

– Pieve di Teco – Liguria. It is famous for its suggestive medieval porticoes along the main street (the “progeni”), the historical atmosphere, the ancient buildings and an important artistic heritage, between contemporary art and local traditions, offering an experience rich in history, culture and good cuisine in the Arroscia Valley.

From Emilia Romagna to Basilicata

– Castelvetro di Modena – Emilia Romagna. It boasts an intact medieval center known for the characteristic Piazza Roma, checkerboard (Piazza della Dama), the towers (such as the Torre dell’Orologio and the Torre delle Prigioni), and the historical atmosphere reminiscent of the visits of Torquato Tasso. It is also known as “the city of towers” and for its food and wine products such as Lambrusco Grasparossa and balsamic vinegar, as well as traditional events such as the “Living Lady” (in even years, therefore in 2026).

Cusano Mutri (press office for the most beautiful villages in Italy).

– Cusano Mutri – Campania. In the heart of the Matese Park, it is perched on a rocky spur. It fascinates with its characteristic stone houses, alleys, stairways and castle. As well as for events such as the Infiorata (June) and the Porcini Mushroom Festival (autumn). It offers uncontaminated nature, history, traditions and gastronomy, making it an ideal destination for hikers and lovers of historic villages.

– Rivello – Basilicata. A village-nativity scene that extends over three hills at 479 meters above sea level: the Motta, the Serra and the Poggio. In a strategic position near Maratea, it offers spectacular views, an important historical-artistic heritage and a beautiful historic center full of alleys, stairways and medieval/Renaissance architecture.

The most beautiful villages in Italy guests

– Biella, Borgo il Piazzo – Borgo Ospite. A medieval neighborhood perched on a hill, it is full of cobbled alleys, porticoes, historic homes (such as Palazzo La Marmora and Palazzo Gromo Losa). It can be reached by a historic funicular. Or along the “Coste”: narrow and steep cobbled streets (like the coast of San Sebastiano) that connect the Piazzo to the plain, offering suggestive panoramas and glimpses.

– Termoli, Borgo Vecchio – Borgo Ospite. Perched on a promontory overlooking the sea, it is worth a visit for the Swabian Castle and the picturesque alleys (including the narrowest in Italy, “a reiecelle”). A perfect landing place for those who love the sea and authentic atmospheres.

Social and cultural promotion

Since the Association was founded in 2002, there are now around a thousand municipalities that have asked to be admitted to the circuit and have been evaluated. And the waiting list is still quite long. This demonstrates the interest that the municipalities (under 15,000 inhabitants in the entire municipal territory and no more than 2,000 in the village) have towards the Association.

«For municipalities that obtain recognition – states the President of the most beautiful villages in Italy, Fiorello Primi – one opens phase of great growth opportunities, not only on the economic level favored primarily by the growth of the tourism sector, but also on the social and cultural level. Becoming part of the network entails, at the same time, an assumption of responsibility towards the other participating villages and towards the entire heritage of small Italian towns”.
