Mosque Meulebeke collects relief goods and money for earthquake victims

On the first Friday prayer after the disaster, many believers gathered in the mosque of Meulebeke to pray and to collect money for the victims. The largest Turkish community in West Flanders lives in Meulebeke.

Daniel Schonewille, Mosque Meulebeke: “With us it is the case that if you help one person, it is as if you are helping everyone. And I think everyone is involved in this, every Muslim is involved in this. It affects us all, this event , I think that’s something human. It hurts like that.”

The members of the mosque have collected clothes and other goods, but because it takes too long for everything to reach the affected areas, money is now being collected, also in the coming weeks.
