More than a hundred Muiders say goodbye to a striking pub owner who has died suddenly

A large honorary guard with more than a hundred Muiders this morning for the young pub owner Ruurd Kleuver, who passed away a week and a half ago. The striking Muider is locally known for the ‘world famous’ Café Ome Ko and eatery Graaf Floris V and passed away unexpectedly after a short illness.

Ruurd was a familiar face in Muiden. For years he owned café Ome Ko and later also café Graaf Floris V. His death is therefore a hard blow to many regular customers and other Muiders.

The café team describes Ruurd as ‘a captain on land, a man who was always there for everyone, a colleague who only thought in terms of solutions and nothing was too crazy for him. An entrepreneur through and through.’

Last honor

This morning Ruurd was driven away from ‘his’ Count Floris V for the last time. One last time also about the famous Groote Zeesluis, where dozens of Muiders stood for a last tribute to him. There was loud applause.

The lockkeepers of the Groote Zeesluis had their flag at half-mast as a tribute to their deceased neighbor.
