Brabanders are reporting more and more abuses to Meld Misdaad Anonymous. Last year there were more than 3700 reports, more than six hundred more than in 2023. That was announced on Tuesday morning. In the year 2022 the number of reports was still on three thousand.
Most reports in our province related to drugs in the past year. More than two thousand reports related to this subject. Violent crimes are the second category for which people contact Report Crime Anonymous and the detection of people ended in three -place.

With more than fourteen reports per 10,000 inhabitants, our province is in fourth place in the top ten of all Dutch provinces. Limburg is Limburg with 19.5 reports, followed by Groningen (18.5) and Drenthe (16.6).
Nationally, by Meld Misdaad Anonymous in 2024, a record number of more than 24,000 reports received, an increase of nineteen percent compared to the previous year.
Thanks to these reports, 3372 suspects were detected last year and 756 weapons were seized. The reports also led to 87,914 hemp plants seized.

Also nationwide, most reports – half (12,307) – came in about drug crime. “Explosions have a major impact on safety in residential areas,” explains a spokesperson for the hotline. “The many incidents contribute to a feeling of insecurity. That is an important motive to report for many detectors.”
In second place are also national violent crimes. The number of reports about this increased by 25 percent, up to 2558. Furthermore, Meld Misdaad Anonymous 2087 received tips on people sought by the police.
