In Gits, near Hooglede, a 47-year-old moped rider was killed this morning at the level crossing in Bollestraat. The lights on the railway were red and the barriers were down. The train driver was no longer able to brake in time. It happens all too often that people ignore the signals at a level crossing, with disastrous consequences. Railway manager Infrabel once again appeals to be careful.
