In the first game of the year, Mohammed Kudus injured his thigh. His comeback was planned a few weeks later. But it is now clear that this injury will cost the Ghanaian their participation in the World Cup.
Mohammed Kudus will miss Ghana’s World Cup next month. The Tottenham Hotspur offensive player is not in national coach Carlos Queiroz’s provisional 28-man squad due to a thigh injury.
Kudus sustained the injury in the Premier League game against AFC Sunderland in January. The former Ajax Amsterdam professional was due to return to the pitch in March. However, after a setback, the 25-year-old has not been used since.

The attacker moved from West Ham United to Spurs in London last summer for the equivalent of around 64 million euros (55 million pounds). This season, before his injury, he played 19 Premier League games and scored two goals.

Ghana’s coach Queiroz instead relies on Antoine Semenyo from Manchester City and Iñaki Williams from Athletic Bilbao, among others. In addition, Abdul Rahman Baba from PAOK Saloniki was nominated again for the first time since 2023. The former Chelsea defender, who played in the Bundesliga for FC Augsburg, Schalke 04 and Greuther Fürth, is returning to the squad just in time for the big event in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
Ghana will face Croatia, England and Panama in Group L at the World Cup. The final round will take place between June 11th and July 19th. For the first time the game will be played with 48 teams.
