Germany has a new MMA star. Frederic Vosgrönen fights into the hearts of fans like out of nowhere. His image actually died out 40,000 years ago. However, the “Neanderthal” suffers a setback before Oktagon 72.
Before his fight at Oktagon 69 in Dortmund, Frederic Vosgrönen is a blank sheet for many. With a balance of 3-0, the German goes into the duel with the Frenchman Jorick Montagnac. The Jiu-Jitsu specialist only needs an iconic scene and in the end the victory to become the new phenomenon of the German martial arts scene.
The moment when Vosgrönes clings to the leg of his French opponent is amused by many spectators in the sold -out Westfalenhalle. It is an atypical scene for an MMA fight. The mood change is then atypical.
The 28-year-old shows a fabricity that impresses the audience, which from then on every attempt by the German to shift the fight onto the ground, cheered frenetically. Vosgrönen reaches his goal, brings Montagnac to the ground and wins with a task concept.
MMA: Vosgrönen becomes a social media phenomenon
The fighter from the North Rhine-Westphalian Mettmann then shouts into the camera full of fervor. His image of the Neanderthals gets another shade. Not only that his place of residence is just a few kilometers from the Neandertal, Vosgröne’s appearance has features of the extinct relative of modern people and he knows how to deal with it humorously. That depends.
His Instagram account explodes after the event, grows from 9,000 followers to gigantic 430,000 within two months. No German MMA fighter has more supporters.
Stream tip: Oktagon 72 from Prague Live on RTL+*
The internet has been full of reels on eating habits and memes to the Vosgrön leg clip for weeks. Everyone celebrates the authentic young man who is calmly dealing with his new popularity. An end is currently not in sight, a stumbling block may be. MMA, this is the sport of the highest ups and downs. Sympathetic losers generally disappear from the great spotlight until their next fight.
Oktagon: Vosgrönen must cancel at short notice
With Oktagon 72 in Prague (June 14 from 5 p.m. on RTL+) In his next fight against Argentine Lucas Alsina, Vosgren wanted to set the next exclamation mark – but the 28 -year -old cannot take part as planned. An infection throws the MMA fighter off the track.
After the cancellation of Vosgrönen, all of Germany is now looking at the fights of the German MMA queen Alina Dalaslan (24) and Jaime Cordero (33). While the Balinger is fighting against the Polish Róża Gumienna, Cordero goes against David Hošek (32).
