Despite warnings from critics such as Rob Goossens and Victor Vlam, Suzan & Freek have decided to become a duo coach in The Voice of Holland. “This is going to be very hard.”

The way Suzan & Freek deals with his fatal diagnosis – he has metastatic lung cancer – is very admirable. The two have resumed their musical work, but have now also decided to start the recordings of The Voice of Holland after the summer. That show previously announced them as a duo coach.

“Looks good!”

Suzan & Freek are looking forward to it. “You’re just seeing it: we’re just there, we’re taking a seat in our duo chair this fall at The Voice of Holland! Under the motto” Doing what makes you happy “this is something we have been looking forward to for months. The chemistry with the rest of the club feels so very good and real, and we are looking forward to it.”

“From the program makers and the channel we have recently been given the space to make the right assessment for us, for which we do not want to miss this great adventure and are already looking forward to the talents that we are allowed to welcome at the recordings of this fall! ❤️”

Warning

Rob Goossens, expert from RTL Boulevard, previously indicated that he did not find this a good idea. “It is a whole process where you cannot say: today I feel good and not on the next shooting day. (…) With such a large production it seems to me – no matter how it is to draw that conclusion – more sensible to look for substitutes.”

Co-TV critic Victor Victor Vlam thought the same thing about that: “It is just very difficult to cancel a recording day, certainly last minute. That is simply huge, of course, because there are a lot of people involved in such a recording. So then there will be a lot of pressure on someone to be there anyway.”

‘Is going to fall heavily’

The visitors of Nujijthe reaction platform of NU.nl, are also delivered. Tonia says: “I think that if his treatments are in full swing, this will fall heavy in combination with working in the spotlight. The patients I have known already had trouble being fun for the family. Let alone for the Netherlands.”

And one Dirk: “Hmm, I really wish them the very best but this doesn’t seem like a good idea to me. Anyway, who am I of course.”

Pregnant

One Dickstra wonders how Suzan’s pregnancy is. She expects a child at the end of this year. “It is very uncertain for the candidates as a coach anyway. She is pregnant. That would seem to me reason enough not to do it now. You don’t know how fit you are later. And that is independent of Freeks situation.”

You may wonder if it is not too much for Suzan & Freek instead of the candidates, he thinks. “It’s great that they want to work, but it seems important to me whether it is honest and realistic to the candidates.”
