Minister Van Der Straeten wants to freeze gas prices throughout Europe to print invoices

With gas prices going through the roof, a third ‘war’ bailout package needs to come down to cut the bill. Read: lower the VAT on gas to 6% and extend the social rate. At least that is the proposal of Energy Minister Tinne Van Der Straeten (Green). At the European summit tomorrow she will argue to freeze energy prices. Is it an option to postpone the nuclear exit? “It’s a new world. There is war on the European continent. But we have to keep a cool head. The federal government will make a decision on March 18,” she told VTM Nieuws.
