Million mud battle with Fredi Bobic begins

Former managing director Fredi Bobic is using legal means to defend himself against his immediate dismissal from Hertha BSC.

According to “Bild”, a lawsuit against unfair dismissal by Bobic against Hertha BSC GmbH & Co. KGaA was filed with the Berlin labor court on Monday.

“I can confirm that Mr. Bobic has filed a lawsuit against unfair dismissal in the labor court – both against ordinary and extraordinary dismissals,” said press spokeswoman Dr. Andrea Baer opposite the tabloid.

Hertha BSC initially surprisingly released Bobic from his position as sports director on January 28th. Two weeks later, the termination without notice followed – probably to save a severance payment in the millions.

Because: Bobic’s contract with the capital club was still dated until the summer of 2024. In the event of a premature separation, the 51-year-old ex-professional is entitled to three to four million euros, according to “Bild” – but not in the event of termination.

These are the allegations by Hertha BSC against Fredi Bobic

Hertha BSC allegedly accuses Bobic of behavior that is harmful to the club – primarily because of his freak out after the Bundesliga derby defeat against Union Berlin (0: 2), when he told an “RBB” reporter the words “If you ask again, you’ll get one scrubbed” used.

A short time later, the former manager of Eintracht Frankfurt apologized and said he had “reacted too emotionally”.

An out-of-court settlement between Hertha BSC and Bobic is still possible. A first quality date will be set as early as next week, it is said.

Experts say Hertha BSC’s chances of success are low

If it comes to proceedings, the relegation-threatened club is given rather low chances of success with regard to Bobic’s termination without notice.

His statement to the journalist was “not sufficient to cause great irritation,” said labor lawyer Pascal Croset to “Bild”. “Immediately after the game, emotions are always involved, so a statement can be a bit flippant. In Berlin, a Berliner snout is okay. And football is a sport that can get rough at times.”
