The brand new designation of Diego Santilli as Minister of the Interior, by the president Javier Milei, It brought with it a series of repercussions in various areas. On social networks, archives of tweets and television statements began to surface in which the libertarian economist, who at that time was competing in the presidential elections, denigrated the Buenos Aires deputy.

In 2023, the then presidential candidate for La Libertad Avanza launched fierce criticism against Diego Santilli, candidate for governor of Buenos Aires for Together for Change. Qualifiers such as “corrupt”, “monger”, “useless”, “terrible candidate” and “communist” marked his media attacks against the then Macrista leader.

On May 14 of that year, in an interview on LN+, the libertarian leader questioned the “Colorado”, accusing him of political opportunism: “I am not to blame if Together for the Office has a terrible, horrible candidate, like the case of Santilli, who is a monstrosity. He was in the Capital, they moved him to the province. He is moved by business.”

Two months later, in July of that same year, through a post on X, the libertarian intensified his criticism. “There is no one who doesn’t say that he is corrupt. He is the one who paid for his birthday party with yours,” Milei fired at Santilli and, in the same thread, finished off by calling him “useless” and “the candidate of TikTok and nonsense” in a province hit by insecurity and drug trafficking.

But opinions change. After winning the presidential elections, the LLA leader along with his team began to dismantle different PRO figures to take them to the violet flocks, instilling in them the ideas of freedom. Patricia Bullrich, Diego Valenzuela and Diego Santilli himself, among others, they were well received to join the libertarian forces.

After the resignation of José Luis Espert As the first candidate for national deputy on the ruling party’s Buenos Aires list in the next mid-term legislative elections, “Colorado” Santilli was positioned to head the list. The shocking electoral victory of the LLA in Buenos Aires territory over Peronism positioned the former vice head of the Buenos Aires government as a popular reference for indigenous libertarianism.

Now Santilli will not take office as an elected deputy, but just hours ago he signed the name of Minister of the Interior of the administration led by the Milei brothers. In that aspect, the viral file once again left the libertarian president on the sidelines who, in a curious twist of fate, must include one of the men he has criticized the most in his political career at the heart of his administration.
