With his debut album “Tubular Bells” Mike Oldfield managed to stay consistently in the UK album charts for five years. In the meantime he also climbed to the top and the work has sold around 17 million copies worldwide to date. In 2003, the Brit released a new recording of the record to mark the 30th anniversary. “Tubular Bells” is now celebrating its 50th anniversary – reason enough to take another look at it and bring it live to the stage.
For the 50th anniversary of his debut album, Oldfield got support from Robin A. Smith and with his help prepared “Tubular Bells – 50th Anniversary Recording”, which was released this year. Other artists, such as Westernhagen guitarist Jay Stapley and the British singer and actress Daisy Bevan, were also hired for the project and can be heard on the work.
The project can now be experienced live at a few selected concerts across Europe. One of them also in Berlin – on March 1, 2024 in the Theater am Potsdamer Platz.
