She is usually the fastest on the slopes. But because she was late for an official appointment, Mikaela Shiffrin now has to pay a four-digit fine.
Mikaela Shiffrin celebrated her 104th World Cup victory on Sunday in Copper Mountain. The joy was not entirely undimmed: the 30-year-old was fined by the world association Fis after the race.
The reason for this was a violation of the rules. Shiffrin arrived late for the start number draw for the slalom – a mandatory event in the World Cup. “The Fis has strict regulations here and therefore Shiffrin will be punished accordingly,” said media coordinator Viviane Tonoli to the “Skinews” portal. The penalty: the equivalent of around 1,070 euros.
According to the organizers, Shiffrin got lost in the area around the World Cup area. Of all things, she was late for the official date at the home race. If such an incident occurs again, there is a risk of an even higher sanction.
The next women’s World Cup races will take place on December 6th and 7th in Tremblant, Canada. Two giant slaloms are planned.
