In January 2024, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde was seriously injured. Since then he has been working on his comeback. His fiancée now explained how things are going with him.

Ski star Mikaela Shiffrin has given an update on her fiancé Aleksander Aamodt Kilde’s comeback. The 33-year-old Norwegian fell shortly before the finish on the Loberhorn descent in Wengen in January 2024 and seriously injured his shoulder and calf. Since then, Kilde has not been able to complete a race. But he’s clearly still not thinking about giving up.

“He’s doing incredibly well,” said Shiffrin in a press interview with FIS President Johan Eliasch. However, the American also made it clear that it was “a very long way” for Kilde.

Shiffrin also emphasized the importance of her partner’s comeback, which goes beyond sport. “The return to racing is initially just as much a return to life,” said the 30-year-old, who also emphasized that Kilde continues to have health problems. “He has restrictions on his shoulder,” said Shiffrin. “He will probably have this for the rest of his life.”

Nevertheless, Kilde is planning to return to the big ski stage this year. It should be ready at the beginning of December. He wants to compete in the downhill race in Beaver Creek. He’s already counting down the days on his Instagram profile.

“His work on the comeback inspires me every day,” explains Shiffrin, who also made it clear that Kilde is highly motivated and physically strong again. “We all love watching him ski, so I really hope it works out.”
