Amsterdam – Midwives throughout the Netherlands went on strike on Monday against the plans of Minister Kuipers (Public Health) to fully pay for birth care from next year. They are afraid that because of those plans, which the House of Representatives is discussing on Tuesday, they will lose their autonomy and that this will ultimately be at the expense of good care for pregnant women. However, Kuipers believes that it will benefit birth care. Five questions.
