Michael van Praag will not become the new chairman of the Dutch Basketball Association (NBB). The director is too busy with Ajax and that cannot be combined with a role as chairman of the basketball association, he tells NH Sportcafé. Van Praag is chairman of the Supervisory Board at Ajax.
At NH Sportcafé, Michael van Praag says that with pain in his heart he has decided not to combine the positions: “My agenda simply does not allow that. It is with pain in my heart, but also with peace of mind, that I am withdrawing as a candidate. chairman at the NBB.”

Michael van Praag was officially appointed chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ajax earlier this month.
Van Praag continues in NH Sportcafé: “Even though I gave my word to the NBB before Ajax, my club simply needs me more than the basketball association.”
The new supervisory board chairman had been active for the Amsterdam club for some time and did not want to let Ajax down. “I have been there for almost 35 years. I was on the board for fourteen years. I cannot abandon Ajax.”
