The brief was clear: the DFB team had to get off to a furious start to the World Cup against Curaçao. And Julian Nagelsmann’s team delivered.
Germany started the World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada with a clear victory. In the end it was 7:1 against a Curaçao who were completely overwhelmed in the end. The DFB team found it more difficult than expected in parts of the first half.
After Felix Nmecha’s early lead (6th), Curaçao even equalized through Livano Comenencia (21st). The following drinking break probably came at the right time. National coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team was able to rally and made it 3-1 at halftime thanks to Nico Schlotterbeck (38th) and Kai Havertz (45th + 5, penalty kick).
Jamal Musiala (47th), Nathaniel Brown (68th), Deniz Undav (78th) and Havertz with his second goal (88th) made everything clear with their goals in the end.
