New raid on the Mykhailo-Kotsiubynskyi educational institution. Destroyed in February 2022, it was rebuilt thanks to the funds raised by the former AC Milan and Ajax players
In a night bombing carried out by three Russian drones on the night between Friday 12 and Saturday 13 June, the Mykhailo-Kotsiubynskyi high school was destroyed again, after the attack in February 2022. The high school, which is located in the Chernihiv region, in northern Ukraine, had already been gutted at the beginning of the conflict, leaving more than 400 very young pupils without a school complex where they could study. The school had been devastated, with classrooms, corridors and walls reduced to rubble, and among the many Ukrainian citizens who moved to support the reconstruction of the building were Andry Shevchenko and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
the match and the visit

So on 5 August 2023 the two organized Game4Ukraine in London, a friendly match between old glories to raise funds for reconstruction. Little by little, thanks to the funds allocated and the commitment on the field, the high school was rebuilt and the full-back and former striker visited it in May 2025. There they met the students, the teachers and saw how the structure had been resurrected after the terrible Russian attack. “I’m happy to finally be able to come back here, see the restored walls of the high school and hear the cheerful voices of the schoolchildren again,” 2004 Golden Ball winner Shevchenko wrote on Instagram, in a post that shows him with Zinchenko, the staff and the school kids.
