Messi and Suarez conjure Miami to victory

Soccer world champion Lionel Messi and his strike partner Luis Suarez have impressively revived their class from their days together at FC Barcelona.

The veteran stars scored two goals each in Inter Miami’s 5-0 (3-0) win against Orlando City in the North American MLS. The team from Florida leads the Eastern Conference with two wins and one draw.

Miami got off to an early start: Suarez gave Inter an early lead with his first goals for his new club (4th/11th), Franconian-born Julian Gressel scored both goals. In the second half, Messi (57./62) ensured the final score.

“I’m very happy for him that he was able to score a goal,” said Messi about his friend Suarez, who set up the Argentine’s last goal and with whom he won the Champions League with Barca in 2015: “We know what Luis can do, everyone knows that.”

After three games this season, Messi already has three goals and one assist for co-owner David Beckham’s team. The team, which also includes Messi’s former Barca teammates Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, is considered favorite for the MLS title.
