Mecnun Otyakmaz, club president of Demir Grup Sivasspor, one of the Spor Toto Super League teams, announced that he is a candidate for the presidency again in the ordinary general assembly to be held on Saturday, June 17th.
At the press conference he held at Sivas 4 Eylül Stadium, Otyakmaz reminded that he was elected as the chairman of Sivasspor in 2004, where he started as a manager in 2001.
Reminding that they took the red-white club to the Super League in the season he took office, Otyakmaz gave information about the successes he had given to Sivasspor during his tenure.
Reminding that they transferred world-famous stars, especially coach Roberto Carlos, to the red-white team, Otyakmaz said, “As of today, we have gathered to announce that I am a candidate again. I would like to say that I am a candidate again in the coming period with a new management.” said.
“I DECIDED TO CONTINUE THE MISSION FOR THE LAST TIME”
Noting that a previous statement he made was misunderstood, Otyakmaz said:
“There is a misunderstanding here, I used a phrase like this in my last press release, I said that I am not a candidate for the moment, I will support the candidates by seeing their projects and looking at their projects. I think the word for the moment there got a little attention. When something like that comes out of my mouth, I stand by him in every way. I decided to continue, this time for the last time. I would like to say in advance that we will do our best to represent Sivasspor in the best way and achieve new successes for the next 3 years, with a new strong visionary management. I hope it will be a beneficial process for us and for Sivasspor. I think it will.”
Explaining that some of the managers, especially the vice president from the former administration, Erdal Sarılar, vice presidents Mehmet Oflaz and Ömer Sepet, did not want to take part in the new administration, Otyakmaz said, “Although there was not much criticism from our community, they were unfortunately very worn out by one group and their duty in the next term. “They asked me not to buy it. I decided to move on with a younger new management so as not to put them in too much trouble.” he said.
Otyakmaz thanked those in the former administration for their efforts.

Otyakmaz said: “After creating the new management, we will focus on the coaching issue first and then the transfers. Therefore, after our friends are selected first, the answers to these questions will gradually emerge at the meeting. ” said.
Reminding that they have been together with coach Rıza Çalımbay for 4 years, Otyakmaz continued as follows:
“First we will talk to him and tell him our thoughts, but there is a really difficult process. Unfortunately, we are closing our club, which we have been taking for years without debt, this year with debt. We are closing with a significant amount of debt. Therefore, we want to create a more economical team. We put forward the conditions at hand and offer our teacher Riza again. We will do it, but as far as I understand, our teacher wants to teach in a team with goals and a larger budget. Because we have had great difficulties in solving economic problems recently. He also had great difficulties. We disagreed on some issues. There is a 4-year togetherness, a little Turkish. There is no proper coach in football who has stayed in the Super League for 4 years. I can say that 1/3 of our teacher’s career was spent in Sivas. He was with us for 6,5-7 years in total, maybe there is relief in separation. He is also with the new management. We will interpret together, we will also exchange views with him. We will have a meal with former manager friends. We also invited our teacher, I hope we will have the opportunity to meet again.”
Expressing that they will start their transfer work after meeting with the new management, Otyakmaz said, “We were an old team, we were the oldest team in Europe, but this team is a team that carried us to Europe in the last 3 years and won the cup. Therefore, it is an admirable team. If we come to an agreement, we will say that we need to continue with a project that will educate young people a little more. If we continue with another teacher, we will ask him to put the issue of raising young people as the first target.” he said.

Emphasizing that their goal is to create a better quality team in the new season, Otyakmaz said, “Our first task is to pay off our remaining debts and create next year’s team according to the budget we have. It is not possible for me to promise big transfers at the moment. But there is a new and dynamic management. “There is a management that will contribute economically. I can promise to build a better team with the revenues we get with it. I think we will need some support at first.” he said.
Stating that many of the Super League teams have high debts, Otyakmaz said, “The final form will be revealed at the general assembly, although we have not fully accounted for it. We had a debt of approximately 100 million liras, but due to the increase in the exchange rate in the last days, we have a debt of more than 110 million liras. This is a sustainable debt. But it is a debt that can only be resolved with support. I hope we will overcome this responsibility with our new administration, but I would like to say again that our job is not easy at all. The increase in the exchange rate, the decrease in taxes and publication income, the absence of a significant increase in the income of claims for years, these are the obstacles ahead that will force us.” used the phrases.
