Ludovit Reis stays at HSV: “An important sign in our planning”

Most Valuable Second Division Professional

After the extension with top scorer Robert Glatzel (29) and the commitment of the first external newcomer Guilherme Ramos (25), Hamburger SV has planning security in another personnel area. On Thursday, midfielder Ludovit Reis, the most valuable player in the 2nd Bundesliga with a market value of 6 million euros before the end of the season update on June 28th, announced his allegiance to the “Red Pants”.

“I don’t have to emphasize how much I have grown fond of HSV, the team and the incredible fans over the past two years. I feel very comfortable with the club and in the city, despite the short time it has become like a home,” said Reis on Thursday in a statement on the website of HSV, which failed in the relegation to the Bundesliga promotion. “That’s why I decided to stay at HSV and I’m already looking forward to giving my all together with my colleagues in the new season.”

Due to an exit clause in his contract, which runs until 2026, Reis could have switched without the North Germans having the opportunity to object – but the option expires on June 15th. The sum for which Reis could have switched was reportedly EUR 7.5 million. Now a possible transfer fee would have to be freely negotiated with HSV should a club be interested in Reis.

HSV sports director Boldt on Reis: “Important sign in our squad planning”

HSV director Claus Costa said: “Ludo is a very important part of our team, because he brings a high level of intensity and willingness both with and against the ball and has demonstrably – not only in the number of his scorer points – a big one in his development Step forward made.” And sports director Jonas Boldt added: “Ludo’s commitment to HSV also speaks for the willingness to take on more responsibility and to develop as a personality. With this commitment, we have been able to set another very important sign in our squad planning for the coming season. Ludo is a prime example of the path we have taken: He has improved again compared to the previous season and has doubled his value from his first season with 14 goals.

In the last second division season, Reis was considered one of the best players and attracted interest from top-class clubs. According to his own statements, he received at least 100 letters every day on the social network Instagram, all of which had the message that he should stay. “I also feel how much the fans are fighting for me,” said the former Barcelona talent during the week. “The fans really give their all, that really means a lot to me.” First, Reis will represent his country at the U21 European Championships in Romania and Georgia. “My full focus is currently on the European Championship. That’s the priority for now.”
