McDonald’s pays billion euros in French fraud settlement | Abroad

The settlement, proposed by the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office in France, must be approved by a court. According to AFP sources, the settlement exceeds the billion euros.

The settlement follows a preliminary investigation that began in 2016. The US company was suspected of artificially reducing its profits in France through payments to its European parent company in Luxembourg.

McDonald’s France was visited by corruption investigators in May 2016. Several former executives of the group were arrested in early 2021.
