Samuel Mbangula came as a wish player and expensive transfer from Juventus Turin. The fact that his breakthrough was only eleven months increases the pressure on the Belgian.
At 1.79 meters, Samuel Mbangula is certainly not a giant according to the scale of the football business, but Werder Bremen hopes for his transfer coup that he will soon be a big one.
A lot of pressure for the only 21 year old Belgian, who changed from Juventus Turin to Werder Bremen for the proud sum of ten million euros. So far, the association had only spent more for Davy Klaassen (13.5 million euros). So even more pressure for the narrow shoulders of the young striker, because of course high expectations are linked to this transfer.
For many other clubs, it is not commonplace to make such a transfer. We hope that he quickly integrates and are happy that he is there.

Werder pays Mbangula in 4 installments
Samuel Mbangula made his debut in series A eleven months ago. Now he changes as a great hope for Werder from Juventus Turin.
The fact that the sum is known for which Mbangula now switched to Werder for five years is because Juventus Turin is a listed club and has to disclose his business. Otherwise, the Bremen people like to keep contract details secret, but this time it is also known that Werder pays the transfer in four installments to the Italians.
So Mbangula carries an expensive price tag with him, on which he has to be measured in the training camp from the first day. Although the Belgian took his own social media cameraman into the Zillertal, Werder’s desired player is not a loudspeaker. On the contrary. Managing Director Clemens Fritz experienced Mbangula as a “reserved guy, but also open”.
Breakthrough only 11 months ago
His former Turin coach and mentor Thiago Motta describes Mbangula as down -to -earth. A property that should help him process the rapid rise he has behind him. Basically, the Belgian’s career really got going just a year ago. Previously, he kicked with the youth at Juventus in the third division before Motta gave him a chance in Serie A.
Mbangula used her directly for the debut with a goal and suddenly the hype around the young talent was there. He was not prepared for this and didn’t like it either. Mbangula reported his life completely, “I was not ready for it. I liked it better beforehand.”
Discovered in Bruges at the age of ten
On Thursday morning, newcomer Samuel Mbangula was already involved in the Werder training in the Zillertal.
His talent had noticed early on, and Club Bruges won him at the age of ten. Mbangula lived with his family in Anderlecht 100 kilometers away. Since then he has been playing as a promise of a great future. At Werder, it should now be decided whether it was too heavy for his still young career or whether he can meet expectations.
His mentor Motta, which was released in Turin in March, is firmly convinced of Mbangula’s future: “If he makes a mistake, he doesn’t let up, he never lets his head hang, he is always vigilant – that’s what I want to see. He is a young guy, grows quickly.” Werder hopes that the investment will be worthwhile this season, but at least for the training camp is still dampening.
“We want to build it up now, do not heat it and don’t force him to start a cold,” said Fritz: “That is why we will give him the time and keep introducing the stress.” Mbangula is probably not yet there at the first test game in the training camp on Saturday. The young striker cannot and will probably not get too much time. The failure of Mitchell Weiser weighs heavily for Werder and if Marvin Ducksch still changes, Mbangula will have to work very quickly.
