Maximilian Schachmann criticizes the “Jumbo Visma” team

Tour favorite Primoz Roglic lost a lot of time in the first week. Now a German driver also criticizes his team.

The German professional cyclist Maximilian Schachmann has heavily criticized the riding style of the Jumbo-Visma team around top rider Primoz Roglic in the previous stages of the 109th Tour de France. “Jumbo has to get his act together a bit,” said the 28-year-old after the sixth stage, in which his captain Alexander Vlassov from the Bora-hansgrohe team fell in the final phase.

“Roglic caused this fall again,” said the two-time Paris-Nice winner: “Because they all drive like broken people on the last centimeter, but they can’t and then hang themselves on the side of the road.” This is a threat to all drivers, said Schachmann: “And that’s unnecessary.”

On the fifth stage on Wednesday, the Dutch team, criticized by Schachmann, had to struggle with falls. Among other things, Roglic, second on the tour from 2020, fell and then lost a lot of time to defending champion Tadej Pogacar.
