While Erica and Martien Meiland want to get out of the public eye for a while after the expiration of their Talpa contract, Maxime Meiland, as a 30-year-old woman, has to worry a little more. How will she generate income in the long term now that Chateau Meiland has disappeared after all these years? It is unknown to the general public whether she has any talent.

Appearing on RTL

Maxime suddenly appeared at the desk the day before yesterday RTL Tonight. She was allowed to comment on the final episode of the Hansler soap, the successor to Chateau Meiland. “It’s a bit ambiguous. I find it entertaining, because it’s a bit juicy because they’re always arguing,” she says.

“On the other hand, I think: I actually can’t stand it either. She is so intense, Monique, and when you see Denise there… Yes, it escalates so quickly and so intensely that I also think: how would she see herself now?”

Branch woman

Albert Verlinde agrees with Maxime. “Yes, now I’m thinking again: what a bitch, that Mo! It’s terrible, isn’t it? That look at the beginning and not saying anything. It’s so mean actually what she does. Denise also lets herself be messed with, of course. You’re just watching a family drama.”

Does Maxime find it a shame that she can no longer be seen at that time slot? “I miss the team very much, yes. But I think it is also good to do nothing and watch… Of course, we have had a whole life in front of TV, especially my parents. They became famous late. That is why we are not so attached to a TV career.”

Never on TV

Maxime does not rule out a TV return. “I would never say: ‘We will never be back on TV’, but I have a hard time about that whole reality thing and throwing your private life out on the street.”

The negative publicity also played a role in the decision to stop it, she says. “Of course, everyone gets negativity sometimes. In the beginning it went very well and it didn’t bother us that much, but I noticed, especially with my father and I, that it does get under your skin a bit.”

Nothing at all

What are Maxime’s future plans? “We’re really not doing anything at all for a while. We were exclusively with Talpa, so I can now do some other programs that I think: oh yes, I would really like to do that. Like this indeed!”, she says about her performance in RTL Tonight.

“But my parents are like: really nothing at all. Just take a moment. If you’ve been doing reality for seven years, you’re always busy with it, because it’s so much about your private life.”
