On Tuesday, FC Bayern has to survive in the premier class against Paris Saint-Germain. Max Eberl previously praised the record champions’ form.

FC Bayern travels to Paris with a big chest – but while coach Vincent Kompany announces “rock ‘n’ roll”, sports director Max Eberl remains more reserved. He sees the guest appearance at defending champions Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday (from 9 p.m. in the t-online live ticker) as a real assessment of where we stand: “It’s a nice opportunity to compete with the best team in Europe,” said Eberl before the duel.

Behind Munich’s self-confidence lies an impressive series: Most recently, the club celebrated a confident 3-0 (3-0) in the Bundesliga against Bayer Leverkusen – and that with a significantly changed starting eleven. It was already the 15th competitive win in a row. The opponent had previously remained unbeaten in 37 away games.

FC Bayern currently seems unstoppable in the league. And things have also been going smoothly internationally so far: “We won the first three games – and we now want to try to win the fourth,” continued Eberl. “If we perform as well as we can,” emphasized Eberl, “it’s hard to beat us.” Also for PSG.

Last season, Bayern won 1-0 at home. At the Club World Cup, however, the newly crowned Champions League winner Paris – in Munich of all places – retained the upper hand (2-0) in the quarter-finals after Jamal Musiala’s injury shock. Does the drama still resonate? “That was a game that we lost unnecessarily, under dramatic circumstances,” said Eberl, but Bayern are “really looking forward” to the déjà vu.

Kompany expects “the highest intensity” and a duel in a class of its own: “This is the highest there is in Europe – both teams.” All the better that some Munich stars are rested after Kompany’s XXL rotation against Leverkusen.

“We can go into this game freely,” said Kompany happily, “without having to worry about fitness.” After all, PSG is causing enough headaches.
