Matthijs van Nieuwkerk provides NPO 1 with a significant dip in viewing figures: ‘Oops’

Gone are the days when everything Matthijs van Nieuwkerk touches turns to gold. He is currently on the channel with Summerschool, formerly DWDD Summerschool, but that is not a hit.

Matthijs van Nieuwkerk is back with a four-part series of TV lectures entitled Summer School. After the episode with Francis van Broekhuizen last week, he gave a stage to corona celebrity Marcel Levi yesterday. The viewing figures are disappointing: with Francis he scored 558 thousand viewers, this time with Marcel 532 thousand viewers (12 percent market share).

Matthijs’ dip

With this score, on the country’s largest TV channel NPO 1, Matthijs was unable to conquer a place in the daily top 15 of most viewed programs. Both the program before and after attracted more views: The Great British Bake Off had 571 thousand (12 percent) and Op1 had 777 thousand viewers (23 percent).

Matthijs disappoints, according to viewing figure prophet Tina Nijkamp. “Oh dear. Despite the good reviews, another bad score for Matthijs van Nieuwkerk and his Summer School. In the target group 20 to 54 years, Summer School even had the worst score of the day for NPO 1 with 8.2 percent market share.”

Smartest and B&B

The big ratings winners in the summer remain NPO 2’s De Slimste Mens and RTL 4’s B&B Vol Liefde. These were again the prime time crowd pullers yesterday, with 1.5 million viewers (32 percent) and 830,000 viewers (18 percent) this time.

Furthermore, SBS 6’s Today Inside (767 thousand and 18 percent) and NPO 3’s European Championships Munich (701 thousand and 16 percent) were the most popular.

I know everything about it

Where De Slimste Mens and B&B Vol Liefde are the primetime toppers, the summer Ruben Nicolai quiz I Know Everything From is the star of the evening. That show attracts more viewers in the low season than GTST in the high season.

Tina: “Together with De Slimste, I Know Everything From is the biggest summer hit. Again in fourth place in the top 25, 900 thousand viewers and in target group 20 to 54 years, Ruben even beats the Achtuurjournaal. 31.5 percent market share versus 23.3 percent. Het Journaal seems to be bothered by the quiz.”

Viewing figures

Programs that did not make it to the top 15 include Nieuwsuur (498 thousand), How Do You Go At Home (462 thousand), Buy Without Watching (442 thousand), Shownieuws (391 thousand), 112 Today (357 thousand) and Shownieuws Summer edition. (184 thousand).
